EVALUATION

 

Part 1 of my senior scholarship evaluation "the objectives of the project: what you sought to acieve" is integrated into the Aims page and Experiment page. 

 

How successfully did you managed to express your ideas?

I feel that I successfuly expressed my ideas. I completed my art installation on time and included the elements that I had envisioned. Of particular help was the fact that I had a second replica glass bowl to use as a 'trial' to test different techniques of glue and magnetisation etc. This meant that I could test new techniques on the trial bowl wihout worying about making mistakes on the real thing. 

 

I am also very pleased with the eventual layout of the website. My design went through many iterations and I learnt many more skills about the working of html coding as well as website domains and other inner workings of this technology. 

 

What were the most challenging aspects of the project? How did you adapted and learn during the process?

The most challenging aspect of my project was working out how to display the huge amount of information from my report in a way that would be interesting and (hopefully) visually stimulating. My project involves many aspects from a literature review, to report, experiment and then the art installation itself. The plan was so ambitious that at times I worried about not completing it in time for the deadline. 

 

My experiment presented another challenge. Namely, experiment a) was intended to be run and completed over the summer with The Irrational Agency but has been delayed by several weeks due to a backlog of work. This has meant that I was unable to report on results and draw conclusions to support or refute previous literature as I had intended. This episode taught me the importance of always having a backup plan, especially when are contingent upon/in collaboration with others. 

 

Another challenging aspect was (and is) securing in-school permission to run my computer-based experiment. Again, these experiences have really underlined the importance of being flexible and creative. I've had to find solutions within the constraints given. I have suggested experiment bi) for this reason.
